Quick axle answer !!

No, they are not. The bearings and the housings(3rd members) are different.

Sorta complicated to explain how. So read this post instead http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/1478223-post73.html

If you're IFS up front your front 3rd needs to be 7.5" not 8" like a SFA 3rd.

If you used a toyota front axle then yes they are both 8" axles.
I used an 85 toyota pick up axle. and i ordered 2 sets of 4.88 gears and 2 sets of spartan lockers. The only difference that you need to look out for is the size of the 3rds. My truck has a V6 and has the beefier 3rd member. The front axle was off of a 4cyl so it has a smaller 3rd. NOt too much because its still an 8" housing like the V6. But I'm just saying if you plan to buy or order some parts, make sure you have that specified first.

Only way this is exempt is if you put in a a v6 3rd into the 4cyl axle housing.

Hope i didnt confuse you. Like i said you should have 2 8" 3rds if you used a front toyota axle. just specify whether its a 4cyl or v6. and you'll be fine.
