question re spindle bearing replacement part

The dealer wants $64+tax for the OEM spindle bearing (the needle bearing). I called a local bearing place and while they can't get the exact NSK part DB503011 (37x30x19), they can get one that's 37mm od, 30mm id, and 17mm or 18mm long (can't remember which one off hand, but I have it written somewhere). Cost for this bearing is like sixteen bucks.

My question is, will the loss of one mm of length matter at all? The fifty bucks I'd save buying from the bearing shop could go to far better things (like gas!).

Thanks for any input,

Isaac

If I remember correctly from doing mine that bearing doesn't have anything touching it on one side so 1-2 mm shorter wouldn't matter. It's been a couple of years since I did mine so I'm not positive though.

Yeah, for that price it's worth a try. Let us know if it works, I'm sure other's will want to save some money too.
