Question on Cali 22RE O2 sensor

I have a '94 22RE Pickup w/146,000 miles.

The oxygen sensor behind the cat (its the CA emissions style exhaust) is so rusted that the nuts broke off and the o2 sensor isn't being held on by anything.

Rather than replacing this after-cat sensor, can I just weld something over the hole instead to bypass this o2 sensor? Or would that screw up the ecu?

13 views and no love?

Surely somebody has tried bypassing the 2nd O2 sensor on the Cali emissions?

You could do it, I suppose, but you'd most likely fail the visual inspection the smog shops are required to perform.
The engine should run fine but may throw an error code.

I forgot to mention that I live in Mississippi now so I don't have to worry about visual inspection.

We have no emissions checks or inspections!

i run 2 o2 on my 94, with out 2 you would get a check engine light you should have the weld in a new bung on the exhaust pipe and put a new o2 in there.

or you could do what i did by a o2 simulator from http://empirepao.com/ no engine light you can completely remove the sensor and now you can gut the cat like i did. catalog number 1301 in the o2 simulator section. it was a really good quality item and had a very simple plug and play install.
