Pulling a 22re block

Pulling a 22re block
Going to try to pull the rest of my 22re out of the truck today. I've got it stripped to the block only thing still attached is the starter. I've got a few questions though.
1. Can I leave the starter on? No wires hooked up just bolted to the block.
2. Since the head is already off I was going to pull it out by the old head bolts. I've seen these metal tabs to go around the bolt in pics online. What are they called and where could I get some?
3. What size of chain should I invest in? Engine will go back in complete
4. Tranny is stayin the vehicle. I've read that people usually support the front with a jack stand. I kind of need to be able to roll the truck somewhere else during the rebuild. Would using a very large (couple ton) ratcheting strap under the tranny and tied to the frame be a bad idea? That is if I can even get a good strap point. Haven't looked under there yet.
Thanks! Excited to get this thing out and off to the machinist.

1. No, the starter must come out. The starter bolts to the bellhousing and therfore must be removed. Make sure to remove the slave cyl. if you have a manual.
2. Use at old head blots to run the chain through at opposite cornors of the block. Don't reuse those head bolts...just get all new ones. I reccommend ARP.
3. The motor is only around 400lbs with no tranny. A good 3/8 chain will work just fine.
4. Ratchet strap works just fine. Just run it around the frame rails at both sides.
