problems after swap

Well my truck is a 1991 toyota it has a 22re with a rv cam. I have just replaced my blown motor with a rebuild. I have set the timing to +-12 degrees and it runs fine for a 2 minutes or less them it starts to cut off and sputters then it dies. I pulled codes and its fine so it must be something else. I have ran out of ideas of what it could be, and now I ask for help.

I had a similiar issue: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116/22re-timing-idle-issue-104627/

Edit: If you didn't mess with the distributer on the donor engine, then it most likely won't be that. Did you set the base timing by jumping the 2 terminals? I'm not familiar with aftermarket cams for the 22RE. Does the RV cam use the stock timing?

Rob

timing should be set to 5 degrees with the two terminals jumped-should be diagram on underside of hood showing which two to jump-if it wont run at 5 then dist might be off a tooth or timing chain off a tooth

well I set it to the spces and at 5 degrees jumped the two terminals and set the dist at 12 o'clock and it moved ccw35 degrees and it runs at 1000 rpms and drops off to 750 then craps on me.

EDIT: the CEL was flashing every 1/2 second the whole time of the code pulling thing.

5 BTDC with the terminals jumped is about 12 with out. It sounds like a fuel delivery issue , try and jump it so your fuel pump stays on .

I have just fixed the problem. I followed the fuel pump to the ecu and fount it not pluged in all the way. I guess that type of stuff happens after 10 straight hours of work, silly me! thanks for the help!
