Pro Comp shock replacement

So after I finally tracked down some replacement shocks for my 88 4runner with a 4 inch suspension lift, I was directed to these shocks:

http://www.4wheelparts.com/PPT5411T100423.aspx

I called 4 wheel parts and the guy said that they would work with a 4 inch lift application.

Is this correct? I haven't had the best of luck with people telling me one thing...

Are these shocks any good? I do more on-road driving with this truck than anything right now, but it gets the occasional off-road session.

I put on a set of procomp es3000 shocks, big improvment over the old stockers.

Great ride on and offroad.
plus you would be getting better ones to boot!

I have a set of these on my 90 4runner and I will say that they are a very nice set of shocks for the price.
They ride pretty well and the steering dampener works really well.
All in all you can't go wrong with these they are great for the money.
I have about 25-30 k on my 9000's but I did get a longer set up from the 4" lift because the 4" just kept bottoming out.
I got my lift from 4wp and just upgraded the shocks. IIrc the extended length on front is 26 1/2 rear is 29 1/2 work great on 4" lift kit.

do you have an angle grinder? you may need it if you're running withOUT front sway bar.

i just put in a pair of ProComp's in the front, ES3000 4" lift. take a look at your front suspension, there are 3 bump stops, one upper(for UCA) and two lowers. one lower bump stop is over the front, another lower in the back. ok, problem is the one in front, too close to the shock. remember the factory shocks have waay smaller diameter tubes. i had to remove the bump stop, then trim some metal off the bump stop housing to avoid the new shocks clipping with them.

i can take some pitures if you need.

oh, by the way, the ride is much betterwith ProComp's than the Rancho rs5000's i had on before.

I still have my sway bar connected. I've never really understood what it helps by disconnecting it, guess I've just never paid attention.

If you're keeping the vehicle for 2 years or more, you might consider the Bilstein 5125s. They will out perform and outlast the procomps by far. I've also heard a lot of negatives about 4WPs, but have no experience with them personally.

So the idiot that I talked to told me to get the wrong ones, so when I cross-refrenced the numbers it came out wrong and I had to get the right number and give them to the sales guy.

They showed up today, with no cool colored boots. Were they supposed to come with the shocks? I got the steering stabalizer too. Install this weekend.

Most shocks come with boots. I just sold my ES9000's and bought a set of Bilstein 5100 series.

for the ES3000 series shocks, boots are extra, $8/pair in my case.
