I don't have a locker yet, but I've seen pictures of them!

Well, not in my yota! I have one in my samurai. It clanks and bangs a little like everyone says, and sometimes doesn't unlock when I turn so it drags the rear end a little. I suspect that is partly because the sammy doesn't weigh very much. I have not driven in the snow with it yet, so I don't have a comment on those conditions. Otherwise I didn't notice any bad traits with it.

I think the biggest thing is to be prepared for the idiosyncrasies that come with a auto locker and you will be fine.

Jamey - I didn't mean you really, just kinda bothered me that 3 out of the first 5 posts were sarcastic comments. and like 4gunner said, we like opinions. Also, back to the future was before my time, I was born in '91.
Matt - the "question" i referred to was the OP saying he wanted to hear other people's lock-rite stories... Asking to hear them, right? that seemed like a question to me, thats all.
Anyway, I have been considering a lock-rite, and I thought that maybe reading someone else's stories about them might help me make the decision.

my god this thread got out of control....

i have had 2 lockrights... one in my 81 2wd (because a 2wd should be a TRUE 2wd) which has worked perfectly.
i had one in a set of 5.29s that i bought used and it started popping on me under load after about 1000 miles.. so i am torn with how i feel about them. part of me has been very happy with the one in the blue truck, and can write off the bad experience to a poor installation or another cause. but part of me questions why it was an issue.

i like my lockrite. does the job. if i had the money to throw down on an ARB I would have, but the LockRite was the next logical choice as a lunchbox locker. detroit would have been good too, but would require a more in depth setup/install. welding was out of the question as mine sees the streets.

Ive had mine for almost 3 years now. Drive it everyday.

It clicks and clunks in the parking lots, and every now and then it goes BANG! but its just telling you its still working

Still works just fine, I havnt experianced any problems with it.

OP: I've ran an Aussie in the back for 2 years now and I havent' had any trouble with. All round I like it. Driving a pickup with a rear locker and bald mud tires on ice is more fun than a power outage at an open-casket funeral.
HAHAHA can I use this for my sig?

Mine did that this morning, scared the bejeezus out of me. Went into a turn, coasted it a bit, got on the skinny pedel, then backed off, then back on again, BANG, puckered me up a bit, I hate it when it does that....

I can't believe it's been that long. I remember when you posted up comments on your install, it was about the same time I joined YT!

One thing is for sure, your comments about the lockright have been consistently positive.

Driving the Aussie locked 4Runner, I pretty sure I'd have to be pooping gold bricks before I'd install an ARB- the desire for a selectable just isnt there for me, Im satisfied with the Aussie.
