i want better traction in the rear of my truck not like it doesn't already have it. i have a total of 300 to spend on the locker/spool i've searched and all that bs but no real answers as to what i want.

which of the 2 will work better with the least amount of work to install it

vehicle- 89 dlx2.4L auto 4.56 gears 33x12.5x15

spool or power trax locker

some body within the crowd has to have at least ran or is running one of the setups

 

Spools are much stronger but suck driving on road.

 

Spools keep it simple, predictable, and cheap (under 100 bucks if you search).

I put a bunch of road miles on mine and it's not bad at all - tire wear is not as bad what people make it out to be.

 

Are we talking mini-spool or carrier replacement spool? A carrier replacment spool will need the gear pattern reset.. Not something the average shade tree guy can do.

I vote you get a lockright. I have no complaints about either of mine.

Welding/spools are for wheeling rigs and people that can afford new tires all the time

 

Do you like to buy tires or not? This is the question you are asking. Both have good traction IMO.

 

i found the lock rite for $292 from a guy on eBay (drivetrain_parts) free shipping
what i want is full time traction no matter what

tire replacement- usually run them till their bald if their mt's. at's i replace when they give me lip on grass or dirt and don't want to let me go anywhere unless im in 4wd

 

any body know of a cheaper place to get a lock rite that includes shipping for less than 290 bucks

i dont have any issue with walking up dirt hills from old logging trails or where the power company clears off for their lines . it just sucks not being able to do it in 2wd one wheel always looses traction and then i just spin on that 1 side get out lock the hubs and it just keeps going and it's kinda getting old even with the 33mt's i got it still does it.

 

get a full spool it doesnt wear tires like people say i run that set up on mine never had a problem lot cheaper

 

My Aussie does real well and it seems like I only gave about $260-$275 for it off their website. My buddy is running a welded rear diff. and his does well too it just takes getting used to with either setup. Oh and niether are driven on the street so I can't really speak on tire wear.
