Ok I backed up way too fast and hard and rammed my passenger side mirror into a van. Yay! I have an 86 4Runner with power side mirrors. The passenger side mirror is now toast. I see loads of manual mirror replacements. However, power mirrors, nowhere to be found. So here are my questions.
1. Has anybody found a source for 1st gen replacement power side mirrors?
2. Has anyone replaced their power mirrors with power mirrors from some other vehicle and had success (without too many hassles)?
3. The plastic cover is broken on both sides (driver's and passenger's), but the mirror 'holding' unit (the plastic base thing the mirror is glued to) is mostly ok. Is it possible to purchase two manual mirrors and remove the guts from them and replace those with the guts from my broken power mirrors?

Thanks! I saw that untested one, I'm watching it. Shhhh! don't tell anyone else. lol. I figured at the least I could pull it apart and use the shell and the mirror.
If you or anyone has any ideas on what brand/car/year/model of power mirror could work for a replacement I'd love to know. It is good to know that I can't combine a manual with the power parts. Very helpful. appreciate that!

 

The housing for a manual mirror is different from the power. The only thing they share, I think, is the cover that goes over the screws.
I have seen some 4Runners where owners put FJ Cruiser power mirrors on. I forget which gen 4Runner, though. They're kinda big, imho, and I didn't think the fit on the door panel was as stellar as the OP did. But the FJ power mirrors were fairly priced.

 

I’m in the same boat. T-100 mirrors may fit but I haven’t tried them yet. I was eyeballing late 1990s Camry mirrors too. I have a neighbor with a T-100. I may drop by and see if it looks like it would fit.

The one on ebay that was 'not in working condition/untested' that I watching sold on ebay for $104. There's one other with a 'cut wire' for $190. Sigh.
Still on the hunt... does anyone know if a power mirror for a 1990 land cruiser will work? Those are pretty common.

 

Just curious if you checked on the T100s? or the camry mirrors? I'm still looking everywhere!
