Power Loss 91 runner

ok so i have a 91 4runner 22re 4wd and i had issues with power loss up un till about 3000rpms or 30mph depending on how i shift. i thought it was my front brakes becaues i also had pulsation. so i replaced my rotors calipers and pads and its better but still not fixed. the problem is only on aecl and 50% of the time

Thank for the help

How long since the last tune-up? Could be any number of things.

definitely check into the fuel filter. good thing to replace anyways if you don't know how old it is. clogged fuel filter = engine starvation.

If it was the fuel filter it would get worse as rpms increase. I'm betting it's a problem with your TPS.

i had a similar issue. i was driving to work when the check engine light came on and all of a sudden there was a big loss of power. then i hit a bump and the check engine light went out and than a huge power gain. this kept up a few times, pulled into work with the check engine light on, read the codes, came up with a code for the afm. i cleaned the contact at the connector and it hasnt done it since. but if you are not getting a cel, i might lean towards the fuel filter myself.

Fuel filter is located inside the passenger side frame rail for the 3.0.
BE SURE you release fuel pressure first or you will be wearing about a gallon of fuel...keep a pan nearby to collect it.

VAFM stands for Variable Air Flow Meter. It's right above the air filter.

Is there any type of hill in the vicinity? I know my 4Runner slows down even if it hears the word "hill"... and I have a 3.0.

Brainstorming here....

I had a 22RE pickup and the ground near the coil worked it's way loose. I'd have strange fluctuations in power that would come and go until I figured it out. Possibly check your wiring, especially ground points for loose bolts or rust.

Could you clutch be worn or slipping? Maybe you have a main seal leak causing a loss of friction. I think the revs would come up and your power would go down if this was happening... but just throwing out ideas.

You check the real simple things like a bunched up floor mat under the gas pedal... hows your timing look... steady..?
