My first toyota was this model year, it was 2wd, but I converted it to 4x4. Short bed, 22r, and with the 2wd fender in the 4x4 chassis looked great for me. I think it was a base model without accessories.

holy crap! You sheared off the diff side of the flange? What brand CVs do you run? They gotta be some beef to make that happen. Nice collection by the way.

Hey, thanks! Yep, sheared off at the flange. I broke the outer CV on the same side on our last trip (along with the rear Detroit Truetrac), replaced it with an AutoZone special, broke the flange this time. I've been messing with the upper bump stops, trying to get the most amount of droop out of it, I guess I've gone too far. Might need to look into the RCV Ultimates.

I know his build isn't a vehicle anymore but technically this is a 1986 4Runner so it should qualify to be in this thread. Plus my 4Runner tow rig is a 1989 4Runner SAS'd with a 84 front axle.

You can find my Trailer build here:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f88/...-build-291091/

I began the build with an 86 IFS 4runner chassis on 9/22/2015

And over the course of 1 year and about 9 months i have turned it into the ultimate overland/offroad/camping trailer. It still isn't done but so far i have completed A LOT. The remaining mods to the trailer will be added to my build thread as i gradually finish each task on my trailer build. This is where i am currently at:

by the way, I already know people are gonna have questions about the rock lights on my 4Runner so i may as well answer that question now. These are All4OffRoad rock lights. You can contact him through instagram as user "@all4offroad" or buy them online at

This was a few weeks ago at the Ca DMV to get it inspected. Which it passed

And here it is as of last weekend. This is a CVT Mt. Rainier Extended Vestibule roof top tent from their SUMMIT SERIES line which is far better then the original. Much better quality and way better features. The Bed is basically a Ca King sized bed with just a few more inches on the length.

And yes those are 35" BFG km2 Mud terrains.

What i still have to get done to it is:
- Fabricate a slide out drawer for the 80qt cooler
- Add the heated water shower system (Already have a 15gallon water tank insalled)
- Make a mount for the 20lb Propane tank
- Install my Forced air heater for heating up my roof top tent during cold camping months
- Make a mount and install my 100 watt solar panel, add a battery bank storage
- Add some exterior lighting to illuminate the immediate camp ground.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this pix. This is my new pride and joy. Feel free to ask me any questions. Preferably on my Trailer Build since i am mostly active on that page.

Sorry for your loss. It looks like he babied his truck. All it needs is a good wash.
