Im replacing the seal that is on the transfer case..the one that connects the driveshaft to the rear diff..(axle)

Ok. Just wanted to clarify so we'd all be on the same page. That's not a pinion seal. It's the Transfercase Output shaft seal. From your initial description, I thought you were talking abou the rear diff. I haven't replaced the Output shaft seal yet, but it should be as simple as you said, remove the flange, replace the seal, re-install the flange, torque to the correct spec... When you had it apart, did you notice a worn notch or groove in the flange where the old seal rode against it? That will allow fluid to pass, creating a leak.

actually i did not see anything wrong with the seal that was in there..so honestly i think its more than a seal..but i replaced the seal put some rtv and all is good now..just got to deal with the rear main seal..there is a S**T load of oil in the boot with the fork(brain fart on the name) and its motor oil..but thats another all day job..

I am looking to order some parts for a Differential breathers can someone tell me what size they are? Is it a 1/8 fitting?

My truck is a 88 with 8" rear and 7.5 IFS.
