Holy megapost batman! lol

Morphine - noppers, Ive been busting my butt at work and lately its been cold and dark when I get off! Ill finish it up soon though!

MonsterMaxx - Yeah I may be nuts for not doing the bottom end - truth be told I think it may be over my head. Im probably asking for truouble turboing without at least replacing bearings on the bottom end.... But on that thought I have been entertaining the idea of rebuilding another 3vze bottom end too. And unfortunately I live down here in Sarasota, FL not Greenville... What competition is coming up there?

Since im lagging behind you and supra, I doubt ill be able to help with a MS system or even if id be able to actually help! lol Who sells, MS and how much do they typically run?

mt goat - thanks!

Supra - nope no headers, though if I stumble into a deal I cant pass up ill grab em. Reason being was two fold - not enough cash right now and because at a later date I'd like to turbo it. speaking of that i gotta get back to your last PM!

Aah, that makes sense lol. Personally I wouldn't use that for a turbo setup but then again I've never setup a turbo. My reasoning is that if the crossover is a bad idea NA it can't be good FI.

you mean the turbo flange? They are all over ebay. BUT you cant just randomly pick some turbo and try it out. Well you can but your results will be far less than optimal. First you have to figure out how much power you want to run before anything else. Then the number crunching begins....go to greddy's website and read up!

I am going to turbo my 3vze as well but am going to take my time first. 100% custom turbo flange, not what the others did to theirs. I intend to have full boost by 1800-2000 rpm, and you wont get that, or optimal power output without a PROPER turbo manifold...

hehehe, well ive been trying to educate myself as much as possible about it before dropping the first penny. To make 250 crank hp, it really looks like a TO4e-50 trim compressor is the way to go running 14.7psi. Im going to have a looksie at my numbers again and make a few adjustments here and there cuz that boost number seems high. Definately want a small AR (<.5) T3 hotside with a rather large extrnal wastegate. This will allow almost instant spoolup, yet allow most of the exhaust gasses freedom to escape at the top end of engine RPM when the hotside is overwhelmed.

When I do go that route ill likely be doing both an intercooler and WMI. And of course a 7th injector kit (550cc) as well. But you bet ill help ya! Im sure Supratehpeg, and Toysrme256th will too.

the knock sensor new was 145 shipped through North Ridge Toyota, CA. A local dealership quoted me 187 just for the sensor!!

My OEM one, which should be 100% a ok, is going up on ebay to defray the cost of the new one.

BTW, anyone ever notice that only one wire reaches the KS, but where the KS wire plugs into the harness there are 2 wires. What happened to one of them?

bsanders, thats exactly how I got those nuts off too. Except I didn't use a pipe, just socket wrench and pure force.

BY, I am going thru the same stuff your going thru right now. Already have driver side head off -and surprise, coolant on #6 piston (nice and shiny)- tomorrow passenger side head comes off (with exhaust and cross-over still attached). On my passenger side camshaft the pin that goes into the camshaft to turn the sprocket was sheared off. Anyone seen this before? Also, what I have done was put all bolts, nuts and small parts in freezer bags and labeled them with a Sharpie fine point permanent marker pen, and with large parts used paper tags attached to strings. One more question, after blowing all the white smoke and coolant through my exhaust, is a catalytic converter replacement mandatory?

Garrett's website has a great writeup on turbo tech.
You need to learn to read a compressor map to properly size (educated guess) a turbo for your setup.

I've got a bunch of compressor maps up on my website: http://22returbo.net
