Great stuff guys,
This has given me several ideas. However, because I am probly getting the Cobra 18 WX ST II I dont think the ashtray idea will work. I cant put it in the din area either because of my sony double-din system. I think what i'll do is just mount it on the passenger side of the center console - Has anyone on here done this? That way i'll have easy access and it wont get in the way much.

The speaker on mine aims down, so that is not a problem. I hear RS makes one with the speaker on the front, but I've never seen one.

Lysmachia "intends" to mount her CB on the side like you propose Micah, but currently it is sliding across the floor. LOL

Cut a peice of steel sheet 16 gauge 8" x 12" sandwiched it between the rearview mirror mount and the roof. Cut two holes about 2" square where the map light recesses are and drilled 4 holes for the two screws and two bolts.

I also have a double DIN radio that I'm not willing to part with so I can't put the CB where the storage tray was.
if you're talking about 1st gen runner, i put a cb in my '84 by just sliding it between the dash and the trim arround the shifter. i just bent two brackets so i could use the trim screws to mount the cb. i also attached the microphone clip to one of the brackets.

Has anyone ever thought of mounting the CB in the glovebox? off to 1 side.

Yeah I've seen that but it makes it hard to hear unless you use an external speaker.

I mounted mine under the Cd player in place of the tray. The only way to properly secure caused it to stick out about 2-3 inches. And the mic mounts on the side, not the front, so it sits in kinda funny. But it was a free unit, so I'm not complaining.

My turn.

This was with the bench in. I've since put in bucket seats (94 runner) and theres less leg room now so I'll be moving it between the seats once i get the time to build a center console.

If you got a smaller CB or just have the bench in there this works great.
