Hey Jo, ...don't wanna sidetrack too much here, ...but people usually don't know the color I mean, ...it was "extra cost special option" from toyota..... This was their add in 89 I believe....

It's just called Light Blue Metalic... But in person, it's VERY silver with a hint of like blu'ish color, lol. It's not the most "BLACK ON BLACK WITH BLACK RIMS AND SILVER HIGHLIGHTS" kinda 'BUFF' color! lol... But for some reason, I like it. My neighbor down the hill has an 88 Xtra Cab with a mild lift and 32's and that color, IMMACULATE! ... I HATE HIM! hahaha, jk. I'm perfectly happy with my rig!

END OF SIDETRACK! lol.

Just a plain ol silver. the factory coat was white.

Also, I think that 92 should totally have it done and let us know how it works!

I LOVE silver, too. My fav's are Silver, Red, Flat Cobalt(blueberry) blue and the Forest Metallic Green on the newer Pick ups and Runners.

OK, DONE! lol.

Its possible it is just a rumor and untrue but instead of guessing or theory crafting I'd like to see someone who has it installed on a 89 90 + truck Just to be sure.
I have this mod running on a 90 22re. Had it this way for 8000+ miles with no issues.

let me know and i will take some pics if need be.

Hrm, definitely food for thought. As I said I couldnt see why it wouldnt work ya know?

I wonder if it works until later years, example being say 92+ it doesnt work but before that its fine, yet again it may work on ANY year of 22re and all this curiosity is wasted! lol

hey guys. im a new user but not a new yota owner. i have a problem that im hoping someone can help me with.
i have a 1990 4runner with the 3.0 v6. the engine was filthy so i decided to take it to a self serve carwash and washed off the engine. it started and ran fine on the way home. i parked it for about and hour and when i came back to go to the store it wouldnt start. starter was turning over fine but it just wouldnt kick over. i pulled off the distributor cap and dried out the little amount of water that was in there. it would now start but runs like crap and then dies. any ideas on what i messed up or what i can do to fix this problem? thanks in advance.

Having now successfully installed the AFM, I think a few comments may help others. Yes the AFM from the '82 supra plugs right into the 4runner harness. But when I read 'plug and play ' I was thinking AFM alone. Because I do not have any engine mods I thrifted a little on the other required parts. I used a 2 1/2" tube to connect the AFM to the intake. The stock intake elbow and a 3" to 2 1/2" silicone adapter from the tube to the AFM. I then bought a k&n cone filter and their dust sock and mounted on top of the bottom half stock air box. I can post a pic later but it works well.

Bottom line is that the mod cost just about $200 and one home fab'd bracket. Install was plug and play once parts were in hand. Mod itself was good and seems to have improved throttle response and uphill pull. No change noticed in fuel economy but not definitive. Mod was worth it IMO but there more to it than just the AFM.

I am looking for the 22250-43110 Supra AFM and the newer 2.75" TB for upgrades on my '85 22RE. Having trouble finding new or used for sale. If anyone has any or knows where to get one, please let me know. Thanks.

try ebay for the AFM or start digging around in the wrecking yards for one. 1982 supra only. i took my TB off of an 84 or 85 supra. it's not that easy though. you'll need to fab up the TPS wing since it's 90* out from your TPS and make a TB spacer to make it work. the worst thing about it is if you ever have to warm your truck up. it doesn't have the AICV so there's no automatic throttle up. You should take your stock one, or get a doner, to a machine shop that knows what they are doing and have yours bored with a nre butterfly valve. or i think LCE sells them. good luck out there.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like the AFM should not be too hard to find, but the TB I will either try to port my self or have a shop do what you said if less than buying the LCE big bore one for 225.00 with 100.00 core.

To save time and frustration, I might just save up for the big bore tb and find the AFM and use a 45 or 90 deg silicone hose and swap the battery and intake and build battery box on drivers side and then build a hose for CAI to filter with a block off or screen for bad weather or mud and dirt.

I first ran my 82 supra afm in my 88 22re and later gave my son the AFM in his 91 22re 2wd and is daily driven today.Easy plug and play you just have to make a solid bracket to hold the AFM in place.
