It passed!!!!!

I just got the 89 emissions tested and it passed with flying colors. I had help from Abe on pulling codes and was able to isolate a bad connection in the ignitor (easy fix) and I then pulled the battery cable off to clear the codes. So far it's been a day or so of driving and the CEL didn't come back on and the rig is running great for 207,000 miles.

/me does happy dance

Yeah I know..... it's stupid. I think the part that makes me the most upset is the series of hoops that I had to jump through to get to this point. I had planned on not driving it at all until I had the lift/lockers/tires/etc installed and done. I wasn't going to insure it since it wasn't going to be driven. Well to transfer the title into my name I have to have insurance (in fact there is no such thing as an uninsurable vehicle in New Mexico unless it's in a salvage yard), to get insurance I have to get the emissions done. Do you see the circular cycle of crap? Oh and I can't let the insurance run out or I'll get a nice little notice in the mail from the state along with a fine and that fine will increase every month until I get the insurance renewed.

*sigh* So now that I have it all legal I'll be damned if I'm not going to drive it. I might even have to take that stock little rig out this weekend and wheel it just because.

What's wrong with Cali?
I had two trucks fail emissions and pass after replacing their converters.

in a state with less than 1 million residents, i don't think anybody here cares about someone else's exhaust.

Montana huh? Yeah if I ever get enough money to retire I'm headed up your way to buy a house and spend the rest of my days learning to fly fish, and not deal with emissions.

Junkers, did you pass emissions with the Supra AFM on your truck?

You should post up the results of the emission test if you can and don't mind. I was really surprised how clean mine ran when I got it tested in early January.

Matt I did not have the pickup tested with the Supra mod on there. I did however have it done with the EGR blocked off and it passed with no issues.

Here are the numbers from the 4runner today. All stock everything with 207,000 miles on it as of this afternoon.

(I have no idea what these mean by the way)

High speed idle= 2489rpm
HC 53, limit 200
CO 0.47, limit 1.20
CO2 14.2
O2 1.13

Low speed=0854rpm (I had to set the idle by ear since I don't have a tach)
HC 66, limit 200
CO 0.33, limit 1.20
CO2 14.2
O2 1.36

Congrats on passing. Here in Nevada the emissions tests go by zip code (read that as population). Lots of places here that you can live and won't get tested even in a county where testing is mandatory.

Those are pretty good results.
HC= Hydrocarbons (compounds of hydrogen and carbon molecules, like Methane, Ethane, etc.)
CO= Carbon Monoxide (compound of one carbon and one oxygen molecules)
CO2= Carbon Dioxide (compound of one carbon and two oxygen molecules)
O2=Dioxide/Dioxygen (basically just normal oxygen.)
