Part Identification

Picked up a new to me 87 4runner on sunday. This is my second foray into the Yota world I have previously built an expedition style 2000 Tacoma.

So the engine in the 87 runs like poop random idle as well as hesitating and missing under load. It looks as though the previous owner did an EGR delete which is fine cause I don't have to deal with emissions. I just wanna make sure the things that are necessary are hooked up and done so correctly. I included some pictures of some vacuum lines that aren't hooked to anything as well as some others. any help is appreciated Thank you.

1: AC idle up maybe do both lines connect to the idle up valve/assembly. Or does one if them run to the fuel pressure regulator?

2: should have black filter like the first one did.

3: that extra coolant line used to run to the rear seat heater.

1. They both run to what I now know as the idle up valve. am I correct to assume that the wires go to that plug one appears to be white w/red stripe the other white w/blue stripe. a picture showing with wire goes where would be awesome

2. Does this have to be a open air 2 way filter or more of a check valve?

1: I don't have an 87 wiring diagram, you can look for one on Google "Autozone 1987 Toyota 4runner wiring diagram", then select images. should take you to the appropriate section of thier repair guide. Someone with the printed FSM might even post a picture of the ECU pin map. (When you are in doubt about wiring it's best to use your continuity set on the Multimeter, with one probe clipped to the loose wire insert the other meter lead into the backside of the ECU plug so it touches the connector on the end of the wire. When it sounds the tone you've located the other end and can find its signal name in the ECU pin out.) It is just a simple solenoid, if it doesn't change change behavior when power is applied it's a simple reverse the polarity fix.

3?) This needs a better photo to be certain, your fingers are in the way hold it by its mounting bracket, and maybe degreased. The VSV's are color coded from the factory and you can identify them that way also. Where does the vacuum line lead, are there more than one?

...
You throttle body missing lines, one of these should be hooked to the charcoal canister. It's marked with a P for purge.

Paul 22RE beat me to it, but I took a few more pictures to see if they can be of assistance.

I am still learning the 22R-E vacuum system. I only have a 22R engine so everything I know vacuum wise on the 22R-E is just through the Factory Repair Manual and here on YotaTech.

Here is the ECU pin map from my printed 1987 Factory Repair Manual:

Here is the ECU section of the Wiring Diagram:

Here is the Air Conditioning wiring diagram. The Idle-up VSV is in the upper-middle part of the picture:

And although the below diagram may not pertain to your current issue, just for the heck of it, here is the voltage pin map:

Wire Color Codes:

I intentionally left the pictures large so they are readable. Hopefully the pictures are not too large.

If you need any more diagrams, I can take some more pictures and post them up.

Thanks Ya'll

Forums never let me down. Diagnosed my headlight issue and the vacuum system last night. that along with new plugs, wires and distributor and the ol runner is back to normal no miss, sputter or hesitation. some vac hoses were routed completely wrong some not at all and I think I plugged 6 open ports that were allowing un metered air into the system. again thanks everyone.

oh and i have a FSM on the way to help with further needs of diagrams and what nots.

photo #2 is the fuel pressure up VSV. the port you show should have a vacuum line that connects to the rear half of the intake plenum, at a three-prong fitting (two fittings are usually capped). the other port should connect to a vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator.

your cable may move correctly, but in your photos, the cable end loop is not connected to the valve. the valve might be closed, which could be why you aren't getting heat.
