painting 88 Runner with spray balm - anyone?

The only problem with anything in a spray can is that it not hardened or catilyzed. Which means solvents, oil or gas can effect later. Even spray can clear does not provide protection, just makes it shiny. Most protection (uv and solvent) comes from the hardener you add. If you are covering good paint or a new primered panel it's fine. Of coarse if your trying to make a trail rig look better, it's the only way to go. Easy on the wallet and easy to repair.

There is quite a bit of variances on the paint. I didnt get as smooth as a finish as I would like but then again I did paint it outside!!! At least my truck is all one color now instead of 5 differant shades of white. Probably this next summer I will strip it down again and use a compressor and sprayer and do it inside. But for the price I paid to rattle can it I cant really complain.

Spray cans will vary in pressure as the paint is consumed or sprayed. So, overspray gets worse as the can is emptied. I suggest buying a cheap spray gun, a small compressor and dump the spray cans into the spray gun cup. The results will be much better looking. If you just want color, and don't give a crap about the overspray, use cans. Krylon is one of the better spray can paints IMHO. Clear will not help the process. And as stated, the spray can paints have little to no UV and solvent protection. It is the bottom of the line for painting.
