might be easier to get you a part number if we knew what kinda of vehicle you had and which motor.

that wouldn't be the P/S idle up valve on the 22re Bryan. On both vehicles they would be right on the P/S pump. Not sure what that is, I'd have to look at a few drawings, but I wanna say A/C idle-up.

P.S. Whenever I go to a junk yard, I always grab these kinda things, way pricey new and most pick a parts around here don't even charge ya for em. That little 3-way (gas filter) vacuum port is another one of those things that like to break. Most people are willing to pay $15-25 on these things.

I broke mine and just plugged the lines.
Did it 5 years ago and seems to be ok.

$90 for that is a little salty I might just plug it if it is not going to cause much problems.

all it is there for is to bump up the idle when using the steering.

on my truck the vaccuum lines attached to that thing i circled go straight to the power steering pump. whether that is wrong or right i do not know. i am going to start tacking a small idle issue i have and just want to id everything that may be a possible cause first

maybe the 88re is different, but on the 92 I pulled my system from that P/S idle valve was on the steering pump.

i checked with toyotapartszone.com and found a picture of it, but no part number is associated with it. it is a supplemental drawing for trucks that had the power steering cooler stock from the factory, which i have.
here is the drawing...
anybody??

That is the idle up valve. Used to bump idle speed if you turn the steering wheel (p/s fluid pressure increases) or if you have the A/C on. FSM does show the adjustment procedure, I think in the A/C section. But basically you just want to adjust the knob so the idle w/ A/C running is higher than normal, maybe 100-200 RPM bump up. Easy way to test is run vacuum right to the idle up valve (bypass the VSVs) and then adjust the speed. I use mine for a fast idle control when I am running my air compressor or up at high elevations in the mountains if the idle speed drops too low.

And if you turn up that idle speed too high (above around 1200 RPM), you'll hit the brake cut point in the ECU. If you tap the brake pedal, the ECU cuts fuel to the injectors if the idle speed is too high.

4crawler so that in his photo is all one system with the valve I described on the P/S pump, but is only on A/C equipped right?

4crawler,
if its for the ac, why does is plumb down to the power steering pump?
i dont think mine is plumbed wrong either cause the toyotapartzone diagram i linked to above shows it going to the power steering valve thingy part number 17630.

See:

It is for both power steering (p/s) and A/C, has two ports on it, apply vacuum to either port and it'll feed more air into the intake manifold and increase the idle speed.

P/S valve is actuated by fluid pressure inside the p/s pump, the A/C VSV is electrically actuated when the A/C compressor is running. Back when I had the stock p/s pump, I found my vacuum port feeding that valve was plugged with carbon so never did work. Cleaned that out and noticed no difference in operation and since I have put in a different p/s pump, I have not had that valve at all and really do not miss it at all. If I need a little more p/s boost at idle, I just tap the gas pedal a bit.

hmmm don't remember that on the 92 I pulled my system out of, could have swore the vac lines from the pump were plumbed either directly into the intake or the throttle body.
