Overheated now is hard starting and won't idle
I was driving my 87 runner 22re last night on the freeway. There was a slight incline so i down shifted to keep speed had it at around 3500-3700rpms. I went to get off the freeway and as I came up to the red light it just dies. My temp gauge read normal, wouldn't start, so I hopped out and opened the hood turns out it was boiling over. I let it cool down for awhile then tried to start it again, which it did, but took a lot of cranks and some gas pedal. Then I let off the gas and it dies, started back up hard again did the same thing when i let off the gas.
I forgot to add that just a couple hours before that it just randomly died coming up to a light. I popped the clutch, put it in neutral, and it stayed running fine.
Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm having a very similar issue with my 86 pickup. Did you get yours solved?
Mine will not idle when I pull up to a red light. I have to feather the gas to keep it running.
