Honed cylinders with a Flex 4"
25 passes using marvel mystery oil for lube. Got a nice clean, cross hatch pattern.

Ordered new pistons and rings from LCE
Standard bore.

No boring, no decking, everything was in really nice condition so I'm just going back to standard, with the exception of the CT26 turbo upgrade. Going to take the ARP studs from this motor and use them in the white 4runner I'm keeping. Getting new head bolts for this motor. Trying to do it right while keeping cost down, because I'm selling this red truck.
both trucks are 22rte so, in using the best parts on the one I'm keeping.
The white one is getting a Garret turbo upgrade.

Amazing how great a job you can do on installing parts when the engine is on the stand.😀👍🏼
Even the fuel filter is a piece o’ cake

I've done this both ways and I'll never do it without pulling the motor again.

UPS just delivered a bunch of LCE parts.
Garrett turbo, down pipe, top mount exhaust manifold that looks nothing like my old one that cracked. This one is WAY nicer and better quality.

Well I made a big rookie mistake.
put the spacer for the flex plate on the outside of the plate, rather than next to the crank shaft. Had to pull the motor back out and reposition the spacer.
only cost me about 6 hrs of work.
Good news is that it's back in bolted up and ready to install the A/C, alternater, stab the dizzy. Hook up All the lines add coolant, oil, and fire it up.

Cool thing about making your own mistake is the 6 hours feels better, sorta, than re doing someone else’s mistake

Looking sweet!!! I’m jelly of any first gen runner!!

Well I think I've got it ready to fire up, of course the battery was dead, so I'll have to wait till it's charged then try it.
