Well the son thought he was doig a good thing and went and changed my oil. But some how I think he over filled it by a lot. It was so bad oil was coming out of the dipstick.

She is blowing thick smoke and there is oil all over the engine she was driven at least 10 miles after the oil change. Oil is also coming out the tail pipe. I went and drained 6 quarts of oil and it is still a little high.

At first I thout it was the HG but this is a rebuilt (Orient Engine) that is less than 2 years old with 16k on it. Coolent level is fine and the oil looks like oil. Kind of wierd though it looks dirty as hell from the pan but like new on the dipstick. Oil pressure seems a little high but is still in range.

I know the O2 sensor is probally toast (but no CEL yet).

How bad is she screwed up? What kind of damage should I look for, blown seals/gaskets?

over by 6 quarts? I find that hard to believe ... I would get the level right, dump a can of seafoam or EngineRx in the oil, run it for a little while, and change the oil.

You have probibly toasted your o2 sensor and cat. I would check the cat, if its all clogged it will overheat and might cause other problems.

 

buddy of mine worked at jiffy lube and the tech's doubled up on his oil. the car was dumping ungodly amounts of smoke. they just fully drained it, filled correctly and he was on his way. of course, i'd go like tc said and run some cleaner through there.

 

Probably not too much damage if you got it back to the right level at this point. I'd expect it to burn oil for a few hundred miles because of all the fun places i'm sure the oil seeped.

 

PVC valve probably sent a lot of oil into the intake. As suggested, get the oil level correct and drive it. It should smoke for awhile but I can't imagine any damage internal to the engine. A nice hour long freeway drive should clear things up.

 

If I were you, I'd get your son to point out the drain plug that he opened to drain the oil out... just to make sure he didn't drain your transmission or transfer case, then add 6 quarts of oil to your engine.

 

I agree it sounds like he never drained it. Of course if he drained the tranny you would probably know it by now and be stoking a big check for a tranny rebuild. I would just drain and refill and go from there.

Get a big drain pan

 

hahaha reminds me of when I was 13 I thought oil was good at any amount so I rode down to the local 7-eleven and bought a couple quarts of oil to put in my dads truck, he was so mad at me when he came out and I was emptying the last one into the air filter

Tranny is good. Drained the rest of the oil another 6 Qts. Gotta check the transfer case and the diff, crap maybe I should check the PS level and Brake fluid too.

Replaced oil and a can of seafoam after I check diff/transfer I will drive it a while

 

Yeah... I missed the fact that he said they drove 10 miles since the oil was changed... The tranny would not have liked that with an empty pan.
