oil pressure

I don't have the owner's manual with me at the moment but I'm pretty sure that the normal range with the engine warmed up and in drive is somewhere from the high end of low to the middle range. When I'm stopped at red lights mine is usually high in the low band.
If you don't have a copy I can post the exact words later.

Yeah... I'd have to say that I'd never seen mine hit bottom (Except, of course, when I pull the key out..)
In fact, given my engine and the little I know when I'm working on it, I'd probably have to change my shorts if I saw that now when I stopped at a red light.

A buddy of mine that works at a dealer.... Told me, as long as the gauge moves in unison with RPM's and oil is changed regularly, don't worry about it. Told me these gauges are nothing more then glorified idiot lights... He said when the gauge quits moving and stays on the lowest mark then start worrying.

Mine is hasn't been up in the high range in years. 198K miles probably accounts for that. After the engine warms up it drops way down in the low range but it does move up slightly if I rev the engine. So I would say checking the dip stick is a better indication of your oil condition/level than relying on the gauge.

You could always buy a cheapo oil pressure gauge. Mine only has idiot lights. When I rebuilt my engine, I got a Cheap little Sunpro gauge for like $13 at the local parts store. It has a nylon line and compression fittings along with a fitting that replaces the oil sending switch. You need one with a metric thread or you need to be have a die to re-thread the fitting to the appropriate thread. I did the ladder.
There aren't too many places to put it though. I mounted mine where the ash tray should be since I don't smoke.

The diaphragm in the oil pressure sender units get weak overtime and the gauge readings become inaccurate on the low side. I seen some 22re's oil gauges not even move until on the freeway. Replaced the oil pressure sender and the readings were normal again.

i have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.
REVISED:
On startup, the oil pressure shoots up to around 85psi. After a few minutes of driving, it settles down to around 50psi. Driving on the streets and on the freeway, it reads between 50psi and 60psi. However at idle after driving a bit, the needle settles around 12 to 15psi.
