oil pan gasket problem
I was installing my oil pan with a new gasket. I put a little red rtv sealant on the gasket and torqued the nuts to 9 ftlbs like the Haynes manual said. The gasket started squeezing out the side. This does not seem normal. What should I do leave it or replace it? Also how the heck do you put a picture up on a thread? I cannot figure it out......[IMG]

part of the reason is these motors where designed to have sealant on the oil pans not a gasket.
also from my experience red sealant dose not seem to last near as log as the the high temp black or grey silicone that is oil resistant.
this might help also https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...umbers-102344/

I had the same problem using the black rtv. i took the oil pan off replaced the gasket, used the black rtv and snugged the bolts down, then came back a couple of hours later and snugged some more. i think i ended up with 6-7lbs of torque. i think somebody makes a rubber gasket, but i don't remember who makes it..

I did not know yo have the motor out I would remove the cork gasket and use the black high oil resistant silicon only just make sure to not put too much around the dipstick hole it can make it hard to check the oil
