I'm sure checking it out in the morning will give you a pretty good idea. Hitting the bottom of the motor may have jarred the oil pan, breaking the sealant. It also may have knocked the harmonic balancer, but I'm not sure how much of an effect that would have on the crank seal. Resealing the oil pan isn't too crazy, but good luck if it turns out to be the crank seal.

I could not wait.. flashlight in hand.. started her up and it is leaking from behind the crank pulley..;
My guess, and hope is that I hit the pulley on the rock and it jarred the seal loose... hoping to just replace the seal..
Anyone think I could have any more extensive damage?? What should I be looking for when I open it up? Thanks!

Front crank seal or the pan are about all you'd have damaged with a hit there. Take a real good look at the balancer and make sure it's still spinning true.

Pretty sure I took a shot right to the pulley.. it is not bent or dented.. I drove it home and it goes down the road fine, and the pulley spins nice and smooth.. it just leaks oil... I will def look at the things u suggested under better light!! Thanks

If its the crank seal, be prepared for a good deal of wrenching. It isn't the hardest seal to replace, but it's definitely not the easiest. Be sure to think about everything else on the front end while you're at it (cam seals, water pump, thermostat, etc).

Good luck!

I want to clarify.. I am thinking that it is going to be the crankshaft pulley seal.. this requires all those parts to come off? I thought I would be able to just remove the pulley.. drill two holes in the seal and remove and replace...
Is the crankshaft seal you are referring to further behind that? Or are we talking same part?

Pulled the pulley.. my chiltins says nothing about the arrows that are etched into the gears... what do they line up with? How are they orientated when putting it back together?

If your talking about the Timing belt gear, the mark lines up with a mark on the oil pump housing when you reinstall the timing belt.
