Couple weeks ago the guys at toy dealer found a returned Toyota CB radio up in a misc box and missing the mic and it was a midland brand CB with a Toyota name on it, and they didn't know if it worked...I said I wasn't interested...If it was in an unopened box with everthing in it, I would have been, but like most of there old items they want original prices, so no thanks, I'll go aftermarket on accesories:}

CB installed
I am fairly new to this site so no wise cracks, painters cracks or plumbers cracks. I was actually looking for info on the Toyota factory cb and found the link to here so here is my 2cent.
My brother had an old Toyota Deluxe wagon many years ago. I think it was a 78 maybe. It was junked but had the factory 40 channel CB complete with mic and antenna. I took all of it it but never used the antenna. It fit pretty well right under the factory radio in my 94 DX pickup seen in the pic. So if you can find an old Yota in the bone yard check it out. This radio actually outperformed my buddies big Cobra 29 cb. You really don't need a lot of bells and whistles on an offroad cb anyway. This one was pushing 8.2 watts in factory form so it was working well. I do believe these were made by Midland.

A CB is still a reasonable tool for intervehicle communication when wheeling in a group. Cell phones often don't work in the backcountry, walkie-talkies have limited range, and most other radio equipment is pretty expensive.
Plus, there's no service plan required!:-)
