Odd starting problem - bad plugs?

ok so my truck would not start this morning.... got home and tried to start it no luck.. so i started to fool with it, checked if it was getting spark and well it was. this is the odd part! when i checked the spark it cranked right up. ? all it did was put a screwdiver in the spark plug wire, put it to the radiator suport. when i turned it over it cranked up...??? so i put the spark plug back in and it is running fine now i would just like to know what was wrong. where i can fix it if it happens again .. thanks

Year, model, miles, mods, etc...?

Second, I edited your thread title.
Please try and use a more specific title to aid in searching for it later and reduce the clutter in the section.

Good luck.

Open up your distributor and check your rotor and points.
I've seen a couple yota's with old and corroded rotors and points. Take a little bit of sand paper or a tiny file and clean it up a bit if it's got lots of corrosion (same stuff as on your battery terminals).

Also, that's a lot of miles, and I'd suspect your distributor is getting pretty worn...
