The starter and its accompanying bits are like 90% electrical, but you insisted it wasn't a voltage problem. This means unless it's fouled the teeth, or not plunging it IS a voltage/current (Electrical!!) problem.

It was sliding down hill already then you didn't get Ray's Escalade joke...

If you go back and read the description and follow up posts. The issue was very likely one of three parts of the solenoid. Bad activation signal. Bad contacts. Bad output wire.
