No Power...22re electrical

I have a 93 toyota truck 22re. today i was driving down the road when it started to sputter and went dead, got it started and went another mile or so when it did it again, well i started it up again and it did it bout a mile down the road only this time it wouldn't start back... The interior lights don't work, no door buzzer, nothing at all will work on the truck... My first thought is alternator but we tried to boost it and only got a dome light to come on.... we left hooked up to the jumpers for fifteen min and wouldn't crank, no head lights, no fuel pump. Took my electric test meter and the battery register 12.8, don't think the boosting would of put that much juice in a totally dead battery... My brake light, on the dash, has been flashing for the last several days... anyways my truck is sittin on the side of the road with no power... I appreciate any help on this problem..... Oh yeah when i had it hooked to the boosters the buzzer would come on and i tried the headlights and it all went out....

thanks, wow long first post..

i had something similar on my 91 22re. The ignition switch needed to be replaced, along with the ignition switch harness.

found the fix for my truck today, ground wire,.... I fixed it and drove it down the road and got about a mile from my house when the motor started making the loudest knocking ever... It was coming from the bottom of the motor near the oil pan..... It was sounding like metal on metal..... the truck went dead several times b4 i got home and when i got home to check the oil, there was smoke coming out of the dipstick hole..... I am thinking that i am either going to have to get a salvage yard 22re... it suck cause these motors cost bout 1500 bucks..... Is there a cheaper swap option? preciate the help.... mechanic quoted me 300.00 to do a complete motor swap.....

preciate the help....
