no love from the runner - rust sucks
So I've been getting my 4runner ready to drive across Canada when I move in a few months. Put on new OME900 coils, 4 new shocks, hayden tranny cooler, replaced my exhaust from the manifold up to the muffler, picked up a class 3 hitch to replace my class 2 etc. Truck has always run exceptionally well and only had minor body rot so i figured it was worth it (~1000$ CAD in total, no biggy to keep it running well and survive the drive).
Then the rear window stopped working. ends up that a big peice of sheet metal had rusted away and my tire was blasting the rear window control relay ($80 used) with water every time it rained. Quoted a total of about $350 to fix the sheet metal and window, assuming no other window problems (not a safe assumption). then while i was waiting to get that fixed the fuel sending unit rusted out - $450 CAD all said and done. then that same week the E-brake cable broke and the muffler and tailpipe rusted through. while driving to the muffler shop to get it fixed (on nice smooth asphalt) one of my new rear shocks broke through the upper shock mount($$ ???).
Needless to say I've pretty much had it with rust. I can't count the number of hours I've put into it trying to keep the rust out and keep it running well. It looks great, especially with the new coils in the rear, but I'm cut - she's up for sale as of now.

it's got a pile of new parts on it so hopefully someone with more mechanical ability than I can gut the rust and get it going again. You'd never know by looking at it that it was in hard shape. who knows, maybe someone can fix the last few problems and it'll run forever. not going to be me though!
