Above information from my '85 4Runner Owner's Manual. I typically use ~4.5 qts., keeping the 1/2 full bottle to top off the oil after it drops a little about half way to the next oil change.

Haha thats a good commerical ^^

You can also check the manual (owners manual) for capacities for any fluid in your truck.

I've seen specs stating 4.5 "with filter" and 4.0 "without filter". Odd thing is the filter is at most 1/4 quart and the specs are far closer to 1 extra quart. Heck, even 4Crawler's page says 4.9 quarts, and I can't put that much oil in, with or without filter, into either my 88 or 91 22re's and not be overfilled according to the dipstick.

i normally buy 5 quarts, fill 4 start the engine shut it off re-check and top off. then throw the left over oil behind the seat so i have some extra in case i need to add any before my next oil change.

I have a '94 22re. It takes exactly 4 quarts to bring it to the fill mark with a filter change.

thanks guys. I've always just put in 5qt, but I was just wondering because I don't have a owner's manual so I wasn't really sure.
