New rear coils

If I am going to replace my rear coils with some newer coils, do I also need to replace the shocks? I really just want to stop the sagging in the rear. Will new shocks change the ride much? I do a little off-roading, but most is highway driving. Thanks for any input.

How many miles are on your shocks?

MSU? Montana?

Yes or you will bust the bottom eyelets off the shocks from over extending them.

Nope, you'll be fine with the stock length shocks. I ran for years with the stock length rancho equivolents and downey springs.

Yeah, stock length shocks will be fine. Shocks can change your ride quality considerably. I installed bilstiens a few months back and am amazed at the way the truck handles now. Cornering has improved 10 fold. As for the rear coils, I am running Downey HD's. I recommend them.

Probably a defect in the shock or something. There are a lot of people running around with stock length shocks. My truck has seen a lot of trails too.

K not to hijack your thread Msguy.... But how soft are those Downeys? My rear coils are 87 landcruiser and they are way to soft for my rig.

The Downey HD's are quite stiff. I'm sure they are considerably stiffer than your LC coils.
