Not disagreeing with you, but if people can plug up power inverters to the outlet and pull 5-10 amps constantly, a radar detector and CB radio aren't going to suddenly burn out your computer. Yes, a dedicated line from the battery is the most proper way of doing things, but tapping into the cig lighter is pretty low as far as electrical sins go.

Okay so I ordered a wiring harness from crutch field and wired everything up and it works like a dream. Clean and great sounding. Thanks for all the replys and advice guys.
