new head on 88 22re pickup

I put a new head on my 88 22re, I ordered the new head off eBay through a company called cns automotive, they stated that it would fit 22r, 22re, and 22rec moters we installed everything correctly but on initial startup we had no compression. The timing was lined up and it all looked good but something was not right.come to find out the valves on the excaust side appear to be about 1/4in shorter than the ones on the old head. It was a lot of work and I am at the end of my rope. If anyone has any info I would love to hear it thank you.

well i think i found the problem. it seems as though the exaust valves are not closing all the way, a compressor told me that at TDC all compression is escaping out the exaust valves which would explain the shortness of the valve shafts. now i will have to pull the head back off and inspect it to find out wtf is going on but to all who read this, check everything on a new head before you put it on your block so you dont have to do it twice like me. I will keep you all posted.
