New 4.88's are awsome

We just had Yukon 4.88's installed in our 87 runner and It is much better than the 4.10's!It takes a lot less gas to get the truck moving and cruising is much easier too.I have yet to climb the hill to work but I'm sure it will climb much easier. The shop said that it had a v6 rear end in it which is wierd because the guys that did the brakes said that the brakes were bigger than stock 87 brakes. The runner was stock when I bought it so I wonder what else is different.

After I put in my 4.88's I was soo happy. Finally some power back. Make sure you break them in properly.

I dropped it off before work and picked it up afterwards. It was 450 for both front and rear gears, install kit and fluid and silicone.I had Shaffers offroad here in Carson City do them.He is a rock crawlng champ so he knows what he's doing.

That's close to what I paid for my 5.29s installed. Not that unreasonable for a drop off/pick up job like this.

Not questioning the vendor at all. I'm glad it was a drop-off/pick-up job as that explains the labor.

That's roughly what I paid for my Yukon 4.88's installed. I knew as soon as I let the clutch out it was going to be alot better to drive afterwards. I gained like 50 miles on each tank of gas. I drove my Runner almost 14K this summer while going to school clear down in Oklahoma and I'm thinking in what I saved in gas and wear and tear they have already paid for themselves.

It climbs the mt. that I drive to work a whole lot easier now!I could cruise at 60-65 before unless somebody got in front of me and knocked me down to 40,then I was reving too high for 2nd and didn't have the rpm for 3rd and was stuck at that speed. Now I can downshift to 3rd and climb back up to 60-65.
