Even rats think the nest of vacuum lines is a bit too much.

And I have no heartburn over your insanity. Everyone has to march to the sound of their own drummer, even if that drummer has only one drumstick

lets be honest, there are quite a few of us who can't afford a 3.4 swap, and much like how poor people are still happy, we love what we got. Grant it, I now have a 3.4 in my third gen, but my first truck was a 3.0 and I had a lot of great memories. That motor had quite a bit of history as well, but like a typical Toyota, it chugged along lol. for the 30k miles I put on the beast, I beat on it pretty bad, and it never left me sit lol. even had original head gaskets @203k when I sold it! That my friend, is why I love the 3.0

I think my 3.0 is just special with how everyone talks about that engine on here. I had it loaded full of tools and wood almost past the top of the cab and it held 70 up quite a steep hill without a problem. I have a total lead foot yet I still somehow manage to get 18mpg. My odo isn't perfect though, at 60 on my gps my speedo says im going 69. I only have 31s though.

I got home at 8 tonight from work and got a lot disconnected from the 4runner and am hoping to get the engine pulled tomorrow. It got dark out just way too fast though.

4.3>3.4

-More power
-More common
-cheaper
-fewer wiring problems

Hey, I totally agree. I am, by no means, financially well-off. Mine came out of necessity. I already own the 4Runner and with the choice between rebuilding the 3.0 or swapping the 3.4, I chose to go for the higher-tech 3.4. Glad I did. Over 100 000 kms since the swap in August 2007 and I have zero regrets.

What worked best for me is buying the wrecked 2000 Tacoma. I'm keeping the engine, transmission, and rear electric locking differential third member. So pretty much the whole drivetrain except for the worthless front differential unless I can use the gears that are in it in the 4runner to match up with the elocker diff. Anybody know? I already have the whole rest of the truck sold and already have the full cash amount for it. The guy isn't ready to start his body swap onto an older frame for a while so I have 2 months to remove all my parts. This was definitely the most cost effective way for me. Well I've been stealing too much of your thread I'm making my own.

So where did you find a donor truck and for how much i am having no luck. So my swap looks like it might not happen although I am in no rush I want to get started. So if I cannot find a donor in the next few weeks the 3.0 will either get rebuilt and I will sell the truck, or it will get a 4.3 swap.
