Need some input please, burning oil.

I have an 85 runner with 151,000 miles, i run synthetic 10w30 and im burning between 1 1/2 - 2 quarts of oil in a 3000 mile period. I checked compression and i got 176,176,176,174 psi, motor is all stock. Any thoughts? Thanks

Your compression numbers are amazingly even, no problem there. Did you hold the throttle all the way open when you cranked it for the comp test? The numbers may be a little low, but it is probably running decently, it just burns oil. Assuming that you have considered the cost of an overhaul, used engine swap, new engine, etc and decided not to go that way...

2 quarts of oil in a 3000 mile period is a lot. That being said, you may be able too run that engine like that for a few more years, if you don't mind putting oil in at every fill up. Plan on changing spark plugs a little more often too.

IMHO, synthetic oil does little more than to extend your mileage between changes. Since you are using so much, I would just start running regular oil. It is a bunch cheaper and your using quite a bit.

Good Luck with whatever you decide to do.

Yea, i did everything the FSM told me to do. I had already planed on using regular oil again and even going a little thicker, but still the problem lies somewhere. Also, the plugs were white and flaky so i turned up the fuel 3 teeth in the MAF unit. Thanks for input!

Anymore opinions would be great?!
