need some input

So I'm finally gonna replace my 22re cam with a engnbld 268, and throw on a header but I'm kinda lost at the cat and muffler. Live in mississippi so no emissions laws. So I'm thinking no cat and maybe a thrush turbo exhaust. This is setup will bring some pep back to my 86 1stgen?

Big $$$$ for so very little gain.

I hope your not really expecting much as far as gains

What kind of Compression do you have ?? How many miles??

I love my

22 REC engines but they are what they are.

I'm convinced any investments in performance gains on this motor are a waste. I saw ZERO improvement after adding a 261C cam and 2 1/4 inch exhaust. Save your money and keep it stock. If you look at the numbers between the stock cam and the ENGNBLDR cams there's only a very small difference.

Good plugs, cleaned injectors, supra AFM, big bore TB, custom air intake box, 4 into 1 header, and 2.25/2.5" exhaust with hiflow muffler.

Boom.

Thing is you can put as much money as a 3.4 swap into the head of a 22REC engine and still be at least more then 50 horse power from the stock 3.4.

Then if you want to build your 2.4 just get the whole new head with the over size valves the cam all ready ported and polished .

The 4 into header into a 2.25 exhaust with free flowing muffler .

That will give you about all your going to get on a normally aspirated engine

In your case gears might get you more of what you want.

I just hate to see people spend money only to not like the results they ended up with.

Be nice to be able to drive the end results of someone doing what your thinking about

Sounds like a different set of gears would help.

Then you're looking at forced induction or an engine swap. You just are not going to get much more power out of that motor without some serious modifications.
