My transfer case went out and I got a new one put in.
But now I ran into a problem I unbolted the shifters and pulled both of them off. Well now I can't figure out how to get them back in. I've got a spring on the transfer case side that keeps popping out of place when I try to put it back in. What am I doing wrong here? I know it can't be that hard but Im having a heck of a time figuring out the trick so what is it????

 

O ya and it is the 22re with the 5speed Wseries transmission

 

It can be a bit of a pain.

I took so many apart I don`t know without pulling them out to look.

I don`t remember any springs trying to escape.

 

I got it now. I had to put the top back on the case and remove the clip that holds just the shifter in. I pulled the whole top off and it has the shifter for both the transfer case and the transmission in it. Well if you do that there is a spring that's on the transfer case shifter and it popped out and I couldn't keep it in place with the shifter in place. So i had to figure out how to just remove the shifter. Needless to say lesson learned and I bet I know how to do it next time without fighting it forever.

My telling you how to do it would not have made sense because I would have told you with just the shifters removed not the plate below .
