Need some educating

I found some factory 4.88 out of a 93 runner at the junkyard and want to throw the front ifs in my 86, but I've confused myself severely by researching multiple forums and threads about ifs add. The 4.88 ifs has add my ifs does not. Do I need to swap the axle tube? Remove solenoids? I read myself into a stupor. Can someone please educate me on this or direct me to an informative thread?

pretty sure you can do it, if i recall there is a way to convert from add to manual hubs. really easy too.

google "add to manual hubs yotatech"

That should get you the clues you need.

You should be able just to switch your non-ADD axle tube and its inner stub stuff over, then you should be good to go. I think you might have to put an inner seal into the originally ADD 3rd member that it does'nt have now.
You already have the manual hubs installed that you need. Putting in any of the ADD parts in your '86 would be a step in the wrong direction.

I have read a thread here that said that an inner Add stub bearing must be removed in order to permit the non-Add axle stub to be installed in an originally Add 3rd member.
I don't remember my friend that did his Add delete mention this to me.
I guess I'm confused too.
