Need quick distributer install help!
I'm almost done with my headgasket/cam replacement, and I go to re-install my distributer, and my manual says to put it so the rotor is in the same position as when it came out... But I didn't pull the dist. cap before pulling it, just pulled out the whole distributer!
So, easy question for those who know... On a 22re, where should the rotor be pointing when installing the distributer, TDC.
Thanks!

That's what i thought, thanks.
And I'm pretty sure I'm on the right stroke, I turned that thing over and over trying to get my valves adjusted, but I'm sure I stopped on the right spot.
I think.

pull the plug on your #1 cylinder and when you rotate the motor to TDC, stick your finger in the plug hole and you can feel when you are on the exhaust stroke because it will try to blow air out...same thing for the compression stroke, it will feel like its pulling around your finger

Thanks tnrabbit! Ok, stupid question, but I must ask. The terminals to jump for getting codes are the same ones to jump for setting the timing, right?
I did actually get it started, since there are waves and I wasn't going to wait around to get it perfectly timed before heading to the beach. Even though I didn't note the position of the rotor, I was smart enough to mark the housing of the distributer and the head before pulling it, so I had a place to start for timing. The only change I made was advancing it about 1/8" (per the mark on the distributer), and it seemed to run great that way.
The engnbldr cam is nice, subtle, but it definitely takes the flat spot out of the powerband from 2k to 3.5k. Just hope the HG holds up!
Thanks again for the help, I certainly couldn't have done this whole thing without this forum!
