a "friend" jumped up & sat on my hood the other night before leaving a concert...chalk it up to one too many beers I guess....needless to say I wasn't happy & am making him pay for the damages...
Some people just don't get having pride about a vehicle...
I find this 4Runner that's originally from AZ - no rust - which is unheard of here, I repaint it since the OE paint is cooked from the AZ sun & it hasn't seen snow since....

So I am looking for a new hood since I really feel like fixing it will be nearly impossible. The dent is about 6-8" long right on the hood crease & directly above a hood brace.

Any leads on where to find a good fitting, OEM quality steel hood?
I'm not so sure I want fiberglass, cause that would just tempt me into going with flat flared fenders etc...& even though that'd be nice, I'm not sure I want to spend more $$ just yet.

I've found cheap steel hoods for $75 - 90, but that almost sounds TOO CHEAP. Makes me think fit is going to suck & the steel is probably 1/2 as thick as OE...OE is thin enough IMO.

junk yards? i'd be surprised if you couldnt find some hoods without rust atleast.

 

I have a grey hood off a 87 with no rust and I am fairly close, give me a few days and I will dig it out of storage take some pics if you like.

btw TheVandMan, it was ZZ Top & the Stray Cats. Concert rocked!
I've wanted to see ZZ Top since I was a kid and saw Sharped Dressed Man on MTV. I still recall seeing the Coupe at a car show too...I bet I still have the pics somewhere....

 

Im going to see them play on the 25th! More interested in Stray cats, but good music either way! btw if he damaged him, make him go for OEM only...those aftermarket hoods are total junk.

i have a hood too. it needs some tlc but its also from AZ and rust free. i'm in southern michigan.
