Need help on water temp sensor locations
Does anyone know if the collant temp sensor and the cold start injector time switch have the same types of plugs. reason I ask is that the other day i replaced my coolant temp sensor but after lookin at the FSM i think i may have swapped out the cold start injector time switch for the new coolant temp sensor (could explain why the 2 plugs were different colors). Would mixin the 2 up cause major issues?
Also, is there an easier way to get to these sensors besides taking off the plenum? if not, how hard would it be to take the intake plenum off?

Are you asking if it would cause problems if their respective locations were swapped?
It's not "hard" to take off the plenum, but it takes a bit of wrenching. That's the way I did just because it was too frustrating to work around the plenum.

As for taking the plenum off, if i have to go to such lengths i might as well replace my valve cover gaskets and pcv valve.
which brings me to another question. when installing the valve covers is any type of rtv sealent used in addition to the gaskets to improve the seal? mine are leaking right at the back corners

I used Permatex Ultra Rubber Gasket Sealant and Dressing (http://www.permatex.com/documents/Ga...ngSelector.pdf) on my new rubber valve cover gaskets for my 3VZE. A little extra insurance - seems to work good, no leaks yet.
I'm pretty sure you can't swap connectors between the cold start and temp switch. I'm pretty sure they're different configuration plugs to prevent being swapped.

That's an interesting question. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone doing that....accidentally or otherwise. They both sense the temperature, but for different functions of the ECU. Have you tried starting it yet?
Why replace the VC gaskets? Are they leaking? Is the PCV valve not working?
Yes, seal the ends around the rubber circle thingy. Not the cam oil seal, the other end. It's not really needed anywhere else.

My FSM wiring diagram manual says the coolant temp sensor is a dark grey plug with two wires. One wire is brown with a black stripe (ground), and the other is green with a blue stripe. I couldn't find the color of the start timer switch connector, but the manual shows a green wire from the ECT to the timer switch.

That's my guess also. but after looking at the fsm it appears differently. I'll take a closer look tomorrow just to make sure. I'll keep you guys posted

the gaskets are leaking at the back (driver side) as for the pcv, I've been looking for an air leak or somethin that would be causing my cel code 25&26
