Need help with compression check????

Im just about to put together my 22RE turbo, and thought about doing a compression check before I install it in the truck. HOW?? Has anyone done a compression check while the engine is on the stand? Ive never tried it. Thanks for your time.

I'd basically hot-wire the starter to a battery, don't use a switch or anything, so that when you connect the + cable, the starter turns over. You need to hold the throttle wide open while you're doing this, too, or block it open.

Couldn't you just turn it by hand with a wrench on the crankshaft bolt?

You have to do a compression check with the engine warmed to operating temperature & turn it over with a starter.

☺☺☺☺ it, just wait until it's in the truck then. With the time you'd waste setting it up to run on the stand, you could probably have installed the damn thing and had a beer or two!

Well I guess I will just have to put it in the truck, then do a check, no big deal. I know your supposed to do a comp. check with the engine warmed up, I was just wondering if their was a quick engine stand check that I could do. Thanks for the help.
