I have a 1990 4Runner v6 automatic 4wd New to mechanical work all in all and I am trying to replace the intake manifold gaskets and I’ve come across this thing that I’ve found to be called a bypass block or something? I can’t find ANY clear information on what any of these sensors are or where to find them. I need to replace at least 1 because the connector broke as I was pulling it off and I can’t figure out what kind of sensors any of these are! Please help me with a clear explanation as to what each of these things are and what they are for. Most of the images I’ve seen online, there is a water hose attached to it but mine doesn’t have it. I am so lost!
The sensor you broke is the TVV (Thermal Vacuum Valve) http://web.archive.org/web/201003261...76evaporat.pdf Necessary for the operation of the Evap System. 90925-05047 (about $65). Don't feel bad about breaking it; it is just about the only part on your truck fairly referred to as "fragile," once it gets that old.
@scope103 Thanks for your reply! The image you sent me shows the bypass block with the hose attached in the middle of it. Mine doesn’t have that for some reason. I’m trying to figure out what each of the sensors are so I can replace them. Thank you!
