need 3vze mechanic Durango, CO asap
I am in the middle of a road trip and may have a blown head gasket, I need to get the truck into someone in Durango, Colorado who knows their way around the 3vze.. any good shops you can recomend?
Recent problems.. 93 4runner 3vze auto
-fixed high idle by cleaning throttle body
-engine rpm's still high when i let off the gas on highway
-yesterday drove over 3 passes, hard drive
-pulled into town and temp gauge warmed up a few times, parked it.
-15 mins later, starter seemed to be dead, but i got it turned over and the white smoke came out for maybe 2-3 minutes.
-drove it a few miles, seemed to idle low/rough when stopped
-started it the this morning, turned right over, but more white smoke
- no water in oil
I need to get back on the road asap can anyone help?
thank you

Man, that's a bummer. You really need to have a compression check done to determine if the HG is likely blown. Are you sure the white smoke isn't just from cold temp condensation? The morning smoke could be that but the hot engine smoke is a problem. Is the antifreeze level going down? If so, probably a HG.
I guess I would suggest taking it into a mechanic there and having him do a compression check.
Good luck

It is for sure a head gasket, I decided to tear it apart with a friend of mine up in Montrose, CO. We just got down the the heads last night. I am really only worthy of light mechanical work so this job is very nerve racking.
If anyone in the area wants to come pitch in on building back up my 3VZE I would really be thankful, and brew will be provided of course. Wish me luck!
