Name that engine noise?

I'm not sure what to make of this sound. It's the high pitched sort of shrieking rattle that you'll hear twice in the clip. Any ideas? Seems to mostly show up just as I let up on the gas to shift. Been doing this for a few months but it seems louder now. No difference in performance. Just noisy. Sounds different to me than a squealing belt.

It won't play. Try just copying the video location. Not the imbed code.

Were going to need a little more than 4 seconds of video to try and figure out what the noise is.

I'll try and get a better clip to get the sound more, but it never lasts very long. Just that shriek and then it's gone again.

Sounds like a pulley bearing (alternator, power steering, ect).

Does it ever do it when you're not pushing on the clutch pedal?

If it only happens when you're pushing on the clutch pedal, it's probably your release/throwout bearing.

If it ever happens when the clutch is fully engaged, it's probably something else.

The noises from pulleys will sometimes only occur when you lift your foot off the gas, and the engine is no longer under load.

I'll double check, but I think it's just when I push the clutch pedal. Assuming it's the throwout bearing - how essential is it that it's fixed soon? The truck is my daily driver. I was planning on replacing the clutch sometime this summer before a trip to chicago since I'm not sure just how many miles the one in there has on it. I've driven it like this for the past several months. What's a worst case scenario if it's not fixed soon? Can I get away with driving it as is or am I asking for trouble?

Assuming it's your release bearing going, there's really only one scenario, it's just a question of when. If your release bearing seizes up, it will eventually trash your pressure plate, and with it, your ability to control the engagement of your clutch.

A pressure plate isn't an especially expensive part and it often gets replaced along with the friction disk and release bearing while you've got the transmission pulled anyway.
