does my truck need a new throwout bearing

on sun night i was driving around town, when i pressed on the clutch pedal there was a loud squealing sound, i figured that it was time to bring the truck home because it was pretty bad. then on the way back it got harder to shift into gear so i rammed it into gear. then after the clutch stayed enguaged so i couldnt shift into any gear. so i had to limp home turning the truck off at lights then sstarting it back up in second gear to get going. you guys think the throwout bearing is shot?

throwout bearing might have been grinding on the pressure plate fingers for a while and now they are worn or gone to the point that the clutch doesn't disengage. Or the throwout bearing spit its bearings and no longer even has anything touching the pressure plate.

Either one could be right. Check that the slave is moving. If not...that's bad.

yeah im thinking that the bearing totally blew because the whole pedal vibrates so much when i press the clutch in and squeals pretty bad. today i had some time to work on the truck, unbolted the driveshafts, most of the tranny bolts so tommorow i can drop the tranny and take some pictures of the damage.

not to add to the confusion, BUT, it may also be the thrust bearing...

OUCH!! That is graphic and gruesome! I think I saw something like that in one of the Friday the 13th movies... Jason killed that clutch.

Yikes! Well, at least you know what it is now.

Sounds like everybody is in agreement about the Marlin clutch. I'd definitely try one if they made one for my 2wd.
