Sorry if dumb question. I have NEVER heard this noise before.

 

Sounds like it comes from front?
Best troubleshooting tool for our classics are our senses. See, hear, smell, feel.
Put it up on jack stands and spin the wheels see how they feel.

Check if your manual locking hub lock and unlock normally. If locked, drive axles will sin with wheel. When unlocked axle will not spin with wheels.

Normal driving they should be unlocked.

 

Sounds like a dry front spindle bushing.

 

Can I repack it with grease or does it need to be replaced. Is there any writeups on it? Its the front driver wheel
