2011 Dash or windshield noise - please help

I have a tick/creak/rattle noise that seems to be coming from where the dash and windshield meet on the drivers side of the vehicle. It seems to move a bit, from behind steering wheel to about the center of the dash. It is a tapping or brief creaking noise. The noise is intermittent, and mostly noticeable while driving over bumps in the road.

My vehicle is a 2011 Tacoma 4x4 4dr.

I have done the following to try to remedy / find the souce--
1. Shoved backer rod in between the dash and windshield.
2. Pulled off the guage cluster, driven and tried to locate the source -no apparent wires rattling/rubbing in that area
3. Removed exterior windshield cowl and driven without it, to verify it is not the source, since noise was still present
4. Removed all loose items from glove box, cupholders, door pockets, etc.
5. Pushed on the glass inwards and outwards but could not replicate the sound

This noise is driving me crazy. I have been a Toyota fan for a long time, but this one is driving me mental. I have a nice 4 year old truck, that sounds like it is falling apart when I drive it down the road.

I thought I saw a TSB on a windshield rattle that involved lower retainers, but when I removed the cowl I did not see any retainers on the base of the windshield.

Please help if you have found the source of this noise on your truck
